a) Information You Provide to Us

• Account Information: When you create a Kahu Life account, we collect personal details such as your name, email address, and password.
• Pet Profile Information: You provide us with information about your pet(s), including their name, breed, age, weight, sex, microchip number, photos, and other notes.
• Health & Care Information: You may provide sensitive information about your pet's health, including vaccination records, medication schedules, vet visit history, mood logs, and details about symptoms you share with our AI Kōkua. We treat this data with the highest level of care.
• Community (“Hui”) Content: We collect information you post within our community features, including messages, photos, and event details.
• Communications: When you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect the information included in your communications.

b) Information We Collect Automatically

• Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our Service, such as the features you use, the questions you ask our AI, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.
• Device and Log Information: We collect information from the device you use to access our Service, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and other technical data.

2. How We Use Your Information

Our primary goal is to use your information to empower you as a pet guardian. We use your data to:

• Provide and Maintain the Service: To operate your account, manage your pet profiles, deliver smart reminders, and provide access to our AI Kōkua and community features.
• Personalize Your Experience: To tailor content, insights, and recommendations to you and your pet's specific needs.
• Improve Our “Animal Intelligence” (A.I.): Anonymized and aggregated user queries are used to improve the accuracy, relevance, and safety of our AI Kōkua. We do not use your personal or specific pet profile data to train our core AI models without your explicit consent.
• Communicate with You: To send you service-related notifications, updates, and information about your account.
• Ensure Safety and Security: To protect our users and platform from fraud, abuse, and other harmful activities, and to enforce our Community Guidelines.
• Comply with Legal Obligations: To adhere to applicable laws and regulations.

3. Our Commitment to Pet Data Privacy

We recognize that your pet's data is sensitive. While not legally classified as personal health information under laws like HIPAA, we are inspired by such principles to ensure the highest standards of privacy and security.

• Confidentiality: Your pet's specific health and profile information is treated as confidential and is accessible only through your secure account.
• Ethical Stance: Our collection and use of pet data are guided by our commitment to promoting animal welfare, in line with the principles of UAE Federal Law No. 16 of 2007 on Animal Welfare. We aim to provide tools that help you fulfill your legal and moral duties as a responsible pet guardian.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We will only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

• With Your Consent: We may share information if you give us your explicit permission.
• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
• Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting on GCP, payment processing via Stripe). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
• Anonymized & Aggregated Data: We may share anonymized, aggregated data (which cannot be used to identify you or your pet) with partners or for public reports on pet care trends.

5. Your Rights and Controls

In accordance with the UAE PDPL, you have rights over your personal data. We make it easy for you to exercise these rights within the Kahu Life Service.

• Right to Access, Rectify, and Update: You can review and update your account and pet profile information at any time through your account settings.
• Right to Erasure (Deletion): You have the right to delete your account and all associated personal and pet data. You can initiate this process through your account settings. Please note that this action is irreversible.
• Right to Restrict Processing: You may have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under certain conditions.
• Right to Data Portability: You may have the right to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

6. Data Security

We implement robust technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include data encryption, secure server infrastructure (GCP), and strict internal access controls.

Kahu Life is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
